At the University of Texas Permian Basin, Omega Alumni of PTK acknowledges those contributions

Omega Alumni hosts several social, leadership, and service opportunities throughout the year.
The organization is open to students who were members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at their
former institutions and welcomes "honorary members."

Hi, I am Tracey Taylor. I was inducted into PTK in 2017 at Midland College, and I have been with PTK Omega Alumni at UTPB since Fall 2018. I was inducted into this organization in Spring 2019, and I served as Treasurer until I graduated with a BS in Geology in 2020. I'm still here to get a BS in Computer Science, and I'm happy to still be a part of PTK Alumni!

Advisor/PTK Alumni
Dora is the Coordinator for Health and Wellness Promotion at UT Permian Basin. She received a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) in Psychology and M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling - both at UT Permian Basin. She was inducted into PTK while attending Midland College (Alpha Beta Phi Chapter). Dominguez-Carey helped establish the PTK Alumni Chapter at UTPB and has proudly served as president and is the current Advisor.

Advisor
Dr. Hughes is a social psychologist and chair of the psychology department. As a social psychologist, her research focuses on moral psychology and social justice issues. She also conducts research on the scholarship of teaching. She had been a co-advisor for Omega Alumni PTK since 2018.

My name is Amelie Saint-Dizier, and I am originally from France. I came to the United States after graduating from high school. My opportunities were limited because I did not speak English; however, I was offered an Athletic Scholarship to play tennis. After completing my associate degree at Eastern Arizona College, I transferred and completed my bachelor's degree at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

My name is Kaleb A. Miles, I am a senior-level student currently attending the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where I will soon receive my bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. I plan to obtain an E-MBA to complement my undergraduate degree. I grew up in Dallas, Tx, and have been afforded the opportunity to capitalize off the resources available in a large metropolitan area via internships and practicum experiences. I have extensive knowledge concerning leadership development

My name is Kaley Garren I have lived in the Permian basin the last eleven years. I have two children Kembra and Kamdyn Garren, I graduated from UTPB in 2019 with my bachelors in multidisciplinary studies and will graduate with my Masters in Reading in 2022.

My name is Silvia Pena, and I am originally from El Salvador. I came to the States when I was 14 and lived in California for some years. I graduated from UT Permian Basin where I received my BA in Business Administration in 2017.I am currently working in the Aerospace Industry and I am enjoying every single moment of it. I was inducted into PTK in 2016 while attending Midland College. I was honor to serve as the first Vice President of Treasury.

Our Omega Alumni Story

2017 Fall
o Mado Juarez, UTPB Transfer Admissions Counselor, started the procedures necessary to establish a Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Chapter at the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB). Alumni member, Dora Dominguez-Carey, agreed to help create/co-found the chapter alongside Juarez. Scott Smiley (Admissions Director) acquiesced and approved that Admissions would officially sponsor and pay the PTK Alumni Charter dues
o The first-ever Omega Alumni Constitution and Bylaws were created and approved by both PTK International and UTPB
o Six Officers were elected: Dora D. Carey (Pres) Amelie Saint-Dizier (VP), Leigh McCallum (VP),
Silvia Pena (VP Treasury), Erica Garza (VP Secretarial Affairs), and
Jacqueline Nevarez (VP of Communications)
2018 Spring
o UTPB officially approved the chapter
o PTK International and PTK Alumni approved the Charter
o On Wednesday, April 25, 2018, the Omega Alumni Chapter held its inaugural induction; Seventeen members were inducted
